Johnny Cascone’s

A dozen older women are gathered around a table at Johnny Cascone’s, talking over dinner.

Their conversation is so easy, I find myself wondering how they all know each other.

As their server walks away, one of the women calls out, “Can someone get the manager?”

A few minutes later, the manager appears. The table erupts into applause—for their server.

For a moment, the restaurant feels like a celebration.
